Due to the different materials and structures of granite and marble, each with its own characteristics, the processing and production methods of antique finished granite and marble are different.   Processing of antique finished granite   Due to the hard texture of granite, the first step is to use flame or high-pressure water flushing to create a rough surface of the flamed or rough finish (which can also be processed into lychee sandblasted finish, etc., but the effect is not very good). Note that when processing into a rough surface, it should be rougher than a regular flamed finish, which can avoid the next step of using a stone grinding brush to make the stone slab too smooth and lose the three-dimensional sense of the layout.   Next, use a stone grinding brush for brushing and grinding, preferably using a steel wire brush first to perform a rough brush to remove the loose material on the granite surface and shape it. This not only increases efficiency, but also reduces equipment wear and can extend the service life of the grinding brush.   Afterwards, according to the specific requirements of the customer, use a grinding brush from coarse to fine mesh to polish in sequence until the slab surface reaches the required effect and gloss. If the customer requests a smooth honed effect, they only need to use four processes: steel brush, 36 # (or 46 #), 60 # (or 80 #), and 120 # (or 180 #). If you want to achieve the effect of mercerization, you need to add three more processes: 240 #, 320 #, and 500 #. Of course, if all processes are done, the effect will be better. As for some outdoor slabs that do not require much glossiness, they can be directly brushed with a steel wire brush.   Processing of antique finished marble   Due to significant differences in the material of different types of marble, the processing method should be selected based on the differences in the characteristics of each type of marble .   Marbles containing more calcium and magnesium carbonate or with cracks and pores can be soaked in hydrochloric acid for corrosion, with a soaking time of about 10-20 minutes (depending on the specific type of stone). Afterwards, use a steel brush to remove the residue that attacks cracks and holes to increase the three-dimensional sense of the stone surface. Finally, use a grinding brush from coarse to fine mesh to polish in sequence until the slab surface reaches the gloss required by the customer.   If it is marble with a large amount of calcite, steel brushes can be directly used for processing. Similarly, a steel wire brush can be used to first create an uneven three-dimensional surface effect, and then a grinding brush from coarse mesh to fine mesh can be used in sequence for polishing. Usually, 180 #, 240 #, 320 #, and 500 # grinding brushes are used for processing. If the texture of marble is relatively hard, the previous steps can be added appropriately.

Due to the changing trend of stone design and decoration, the antique finished natural stone is increasingly widely used in the decoration of various buildings, and is very popular and favored by architectural designers and consumers. In fact, the antique finish of natural stone is not a new processing method that has only been developed in recent years. It existed as early as the 1990s. It has also been used in China for a long time, such as the National Grand Theater in Beijing, which partially uses this antique treated stone.   The so-called "antique finished natural stone" refers to the natural or special treatment that causes the stone finish to appear similar natural waves or cracks, and the natural effect (similar to honed or satin effect) that the stone appears after long-term use. Simply put, it means processing natural stone to create an antique effect that looks like it has been used for hundreds of years.   The advantages of antique finished natural stone   The antique finished natural stone has a smooth and uneven satin finish, revealing the natural crystal luster of the stone and playing a unique decorative effect. At the same time, it also improves the anti fouling and waterproof properties of the stone, and can play a role in anti slip. The antique finished natural stone can also avoid light pollution caused by the mirror reflection of light in buildings. Meanwhile, antique finished natural stone is easy to repair after wear and tear. In the meantime, the color difference is smaller than that of polished finish, which better reflects the value concept of natural environmental protection.   The main tools for antique finished processing of natural stone   The main equipment for antique finished processing of natural stone is the Abrasive Brush, which has three main types: nylon brush, steel wire brush, and mixed brush.   Nylon brush is a grinding thread composed of high-quality silicon carbide and special nylon material, firmly fixed on a brush base, mainly used for antique grinding brushes of marble. Steel wire brushes are made of stainless steel wire or low-carbon steel wire, mainly used for grinding hard stones such as granite. A mixed brush is a grinding brush made of special nylon and stainless steel wire.   Stone grinding brushes are classified according to specifications, including Frankfurt type (horseshoe shape), round, Fickett type (Bra type), etc. And classified by mesh size into wire brush, 36 #, 46 #, 60 #, 80 #, 120 #, 180 #, 240 #, 320 #, 500 #, etc. The Frankfurt type is used in the industrial production of stone materials, such as hand mills, production lines, and ground refurbishment machines. The round is used for small manual polishing machines, ground refurbishing machines, etc. The Fickett type is used for automated continuous grinding machines.

The threshold stone is generally made of natural stone, and most decoration companies or home designers recommend using natural stone as the threshold stone. There are mainly the following reasons: indoor decoration inevitably has longer door openings on balconies or kitchens (bedroom threshold stones are generally less than 900mm, bathroom threshold stones are generally less than 800mm). If other materials are used to make threshold stones, it cannot meet the length requirements, resulting in too many joint positions on a threshold stone, which is not aesthetically pleasing. The lower side of the threshold stone in these positions needs to be polished with a small slanted edge to achieve a smooth cut of 5mm exposed material cross-section and consistent color and luster with the smooth surface of the slab, which is also something that floor tiles cannot achieve. We will try to avoid using bricks to replace the shorter threshold stones of a house, and then using natural stone to make the longer ones. This will not maintain consistency and aesthetics, and the visual effect will be greatly reduced. Finally, generally, the price of better large floor tiles is much higher than that of natural stone. Using natural stone as a threshold stone is economically more affordable (except for choosing a very expensive variety).
