Unlike wooden veneers, "Stone Ceiling" does not consider fire safety issues, but rather its own weight. To do stone veneer on the ceiling, do not directly hang or paste the stone slab on the top base layer. It is easy to fall and injure people due to gravity, which poses a great safety hazard. There are two mainstream methods for making stone on the ceiling: through "stone composite honeycomb aluminum panel" or through "stone transfer printed aluminum panel".

Stone composite honeycomb aluminum panel

1. Detailed method

In order to reduce the weight of the stone itself and ensure the texture and tactility of the stone itself. The optimal solution for "Stone Ceiling" is to cut the original 20mm thick stone slabs or tiles into 3-5mm thick stone super thin tiles, composite the stone super thin tiles on a metal honeycomb aluminum panel, and then suspended hang the metal honeycomb aluminum panel on the ceiling to achieve the effect of stone ceiling decoration.

2. Characteristic

The advantages of this method are that the cut stone super thin tile has a natural texture, high flatness, light weight, and is safe and reliable. But the disadvantage is that the cost is high, and the soft stone with rich texture is fragile and not suitable for composite stone processing. Therefore, it is suitable for large-area suspended ceilings and is used when the stone patterns can be clearly observed with low energy.

1. Detailed method

Stone transfer printed aluminum panels, similar to wood veneers, utilize computer-generated images of stone patterns. Through aluminum panel transfer printing technology, these patterns are applied onto the aluminum, effectively transforming it into an aluminum panel adorned with stone-like designs. This allows for the direct substitution of natural stone with aluminum panels as ceiling finishes.

2. Characteristic

The advantages are high safety, relatively low cost, and fast construction process, while the disadvantages are unnatural stone patterns and poor appearance. Therefore, this approach is suitable for spaces with high ceilings, and its node method is the same as that of conventional aluminum panel ceilings.

If it is to make top stone such as stone door frames, suspended hanging can be directly used. Because the area of the stone door frame is small, and in addition to downward force, there is also lateral force to lift the stone, so it has a certain level of safety guarantee.

How to make the stone paste more reliable at the lowest cost?

We know that the problem with wet pasting stone directly is poor seismic resistance, and it is not recommended to use it when the wall exceeds 3.5m. At the same time, due to the thermal expansion and contraction of the spatial environment, the widespread use of wet stone pasting can easily lead to stone detachment. In order to ensure the reliability of wet pasting of stone, metal hanging panels are usually used as a "physical connection" to further ensure the reliability of stone when wet pasting on large areas of walls.
